About Ficus (Fig Trees)
There are about 850 species of ficus, which are also known as fig trees. Native to Southwest Asia and the Mediterranean area, their home is usually in tropical regions. While the common fig produces the fig fruit we’d probably recognise from the shops, other varieties have fruit that is considered more suited to wildlife.
